Short videos of Inner Light and Light Circles
INNER LIGHT (longer video link) OUTER LIGHT (longer video link)
Exhibition, Loiter Galleries, Making Light of It (or, Notes from a Pandemic), October-November, 2021
Inner Light Series: These are frames, placed directly onto the wall. Each frame is filled with colored light, gently fading from one color into the next. Once again in my work, the frame attempts to capture that which cannot be captured, the light, which is constantly moving and changing.
Outer Light Series: Here we see a series of canvases, raised several inches off the wall. Moving colored light escapes from underneath each canvas, the colors changing from one to the next, while the canvas itself is painted white. Both these series are connected to my work teaching meditation.
The Making of MOON ROCKS, Joshua Tree Highlands Art Residency, October-November, 2021
As I arrived at JTHAR, my intention was to respond to the site, the desert and the sky. Sitting there in the deep silence, the blue sky so expansive in the daytime, the starry sky overhead at night, I began to walk the land, collecting rocks. I primed and painted these with phosphorescent paint, watching how they collected the light in the day, and reflected it at night. You can click through the building of this piece, 111” across, with images of how it looks in the daytime and at night. It remains on this site in Joshua Tree.
